Frequently Asked Questions:
What does “cabin top glassed” mean in yacht construction?
“Cabin top glassed” means fiberglass layers have been applied to the cabin roof, then cured to create a strong, durable, and watertight surface that forms part of the yacht’s structural integrity.
Why is the engine bay faired and undercoated before epoxy application?
Fairing and undercoating smooth the engine bay surfaces, ensuring an even finish. This preparation is essential before applying epoxy, which protects the structure, adds strength, and provides a long-lasting finish.
What interior structural work is done at this stage?
At this stage, bulkheads and cabin sole beams are installed to create the framework for the interior. These components support flooring, furniture, and partitions, forming the foundation for the yacht’s interior fit-out.
