April 2018 saw the successful launch of our third and fourth ocean voyaging Vaka, Okeanos Waa’qab & Messenger. The newest members of the Okeanos Foundation canoe family. A special thanks to Captain Peia Patai and the hardworking crew from Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Samoa and Tahiti, who helped our LSB team bring her to completion. Okeanos Waa’qab is the first hybrid version of the Vaka Motu, and we wish her all the best as she sails to her new home in Yap. They are closely followed by one more Vaka Motu due for launch later this year. Then a refit on Okeanos Aotearoa.
